The Education Ministry is reminding schools that visitors and organisations seeking to enter school grounds must first obtain approval from the Ministry.
This follows concerns raised in Parliament after an overseas visitor allegedly entered a Lautoka school and, while preaching the gospel, made derogatory remarks about a student and the student’s faith.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro says there are existing processes and policies that all school heads and executives must understand and follow.
Radrodro says approval can also come with conditions, including requirements for supervision and clear guidelines on what visitors can and cannot do while on school premises.
“It will probably be given with conditions, in terms of supervision, in terms of the do’s and don’ts of the business.”
He says any business or organisation coming into a school must receive prior approval from the Ministry of Education.
