A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE NORTHERN DIVISION, EASTERN AND INTERIOR PARTS OF VITI LEVU, KADAVU AND NEARBY SMALLER
ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVII GROUPS..

Situation: A trough of low pressure lies over the Northern and Eastern parts of the Fiji group. Associated cloud, rain and showers are expected to affect the eastern and northern parts of the group till tomorrow. Meanwhile, a moist northwest to southerly wind flow prevails over the country.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
Occasional rain over the eastern and northern parts of the Viti Levu [from Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Tailevu, Naitasiri-Ra], Vanua Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti group, kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms, elsewhere. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls likely.

Localised Heavy falls may lead to flash flooding to low lying and flood prone areas.
Moderate to fresh northwest to southerly winds.
Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Saturday : Occasional showers and few thunderstorms over Navua-Suva-Nausori-Korovou-Rakiraki, Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri-Ra-Tailevu North, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, southern Bua, eastern Macuata and Cakaudrove provinces, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.
Moderate to fresh southeast winds.
Moderate to rough seas.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :
Occasional rain. Isolated thunderstorms with localised heavy falls likely.

Over waters and land areas: Northwesterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas.

Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.
