The 2026 Sukuna Bowl will be about more than competition on the field, with this year’s tournament taking a strong stand against drug abuse and HIV.
Preparations are already underway for the annual contest between the Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force, with organisers placing awareness at the heart of this year’s event.
The theme for the 2026 Sukuna Bowl is “Drug Free Fiji”, reflecting growing concern over the impact of drug abuse on communities across the country.
Sukuna Bowl organising committee chairman and Engineers Regiment Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Jiuta Baleisolomone says the competition will provide an important platform for both institutions to engage with the public on issues affecting the nation.
“We are grateful to Vodafone for their continuous support in our vision and our theme for this years games. Our focus is not only on the games thats been hyped but on the importance of getting the message from the government across.”
Baleisolomone says the broader focus is intended to ensure the Sukuna Bowl leaves an impact beyond the sporting arena, with military and police personnel playing an active role in promoting awareness around drug abuse and HIV.
The organising committee has also acknowledged Vodafone Fiji for increasing its financial support towards this year’s competition, which will help strengthen the staging of the event.
With the Sukuna Bowl scheduled for next month, organisers are now working towards an event that combines sporting rivalry with a wider message of responsibility, awareness and community wellbeing.
The 2026 Sukuna Bowl will ultimately look to carry one clear message beyond the field — the push for a Drug Free Fiji.
