Vodafone Fiji has strengthened its commitment to the annual Sukuna Bowl, increasing its sponsorship to $100,000 for this year’s competition.
Speaking at the sponsorship announcement, head of PR, Sponsorship and E-Commerce Adriu Vakarau says the decision reflects the value the company has gained from its partnership with the event over the past three years.
Vakarau says the partnership has been mutually beneficial and made the decision to extend their support an easy one.
“The last three years have been beneficial and also fruitful for Vodafone Fiji and all our partners. The decision to extend was easy for us and the management to make.”
The Sukuna Bowl celebrates 75 years of rivalry between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force, with the annual contest also providing an opportunity for the two institutions to come together beyond the competitive nature of the event.
Vakarau says the historic rivalry continues to promote camaraderie and friendly competition between the two forces.
“We see that the 75 years’ history of the annual challenge has been not only a rivalry between the two forces, but also a time for the two forces to come and enjoy camaraderie and some friendly competition.”
He says Vodafone Fiji, as a young Fijian-owned company, takes pride in supporting sports, communities and major national events through its sponsorships.
The company has now committed to continuing its partnership with the Sukuna Bowl for the next three years.
Vakarau says Vodafone Fiji is proud to play a role in supporting an event that has become an important part of Fiji’s sporting calendar.
