Nasinu FC coach Abunesh Kapoor is backing youth and continuity as the Giant Killers prepare for the 2026 Extra Battle of the Giants in Ba.
Kapoor has remained committed to developing young players, continuing an approach that has become a key part of Nasinu’s rebuilding process over the past two seasons.
After missing out on last year’s tournament, Nasinu has fought its way back into the prestigious eight-team competition and will be looking to make an impact against some of Fiji football’s traditional powerhouses.
The Giant Killers also featured in the BiC Fiji FACT earlier this year, with Kapoor relying on a blend of youth and experience during a significant season that also marks the Nasinu Football Association’s 50th anniversary.
While pleased with the progress of his squad, Kapoor will be hoping his players can be more clinical in front of goal. Nasinu has shown an ability to create opportunities this season, but converting chances could prove decisive in a tournament where every point matters.
Rather than making major changes ahead of the competition, Kapoor has continued to place his trust in the group he has been nurturing throughout the season.
Nasinu faces a stern test in the group stage after being drawn alongside defending champions Labasa FC, Navua FC and Suva FC.
The Giant Killers open their campaign against Labasa on September 4 before taking on Navua the following day. They will round out their pool matches against Suva on September 6.
Despite reaching two previous BOG finals, Nasinu has never won the coveted title. This year’s squad will be hoping to change that and create a piece of history for the district in Ba.
