Tourism Minister Viliame Gavoka says Fiji’s tourism industry is now on a strong foundation, after visitor arrivals surpassed the 100,000 mark in a single month for the first time.
Provisional figures from the Fiji Bureau of Statistics show 105,791 visitors arrived in Fiji in July, the highest monthly total ever recorded.
That is a 6.5 percent increase compared to July last year, when 99,311 visitors were recorded.
It is also a 7.4 percent rise from June this year, which recorded 98,522 arrivals.
July’s figure also surpassed the 98,332 visitors recorded in the same month in 2024, and 93,483 in 2023.
Gavoka says the next challenge is ensuring tourism growth reaches communities across the country.
“The country is ideal for tourism. It’s something that we do well and with the leadership that has empathy for the industry, it will continue to grow.”
He says around 80 percent of Fiji’s tourism activity is currently concentrated in the Western Division.
