The Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network says it wants to build its capacity to operate as a regional grant-making and financial intermediary.

To do this, the organisation is looking at playing a stronger role in directing funding to organisations and community-led initiatives across the Pacific.

The move forms part of PSGDN’s Strategic Plan for 2025 to 2030, which aims to strengthen the network’s long-term sustainability and impact.

PSGDN Chair Dr Jason Mitchell says this would allow PSGDN to help connect national organisations and community-led initiatives with resources and opportunities.

The network acknowledges that stronger financial management, risk management and accountability systems will be needed to ensure funds are managed responsibly.

“The plan also sets out an important evolution, with strengthening PSGDN’s capacity to serve as a regional grant-making and financial intermediary. This will require a robust governance, financial management, risk management, and accountability systems, so that resources can reach our national member organisations and community-led initiatives effectively and with integrity.”

PSGDN Interim CEO Loata Tuci says the strategy also focuses on strengthening Pacific leadership and creating opportunities for young and emerging leaders.

The network wants to ensure resources reach communities that need them most while strengthening connections across the region.

PSGDN says the strategy represents a significant shift in how it plans to support its members.

The organisation says it aims to create mechanisms that improve access to resources for national organisations, community groups and other stakeholders.

The network says that the strategy will guide its work towards building a stronger, more connected and Pacific-led movement over the next five years.
