Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica.

Pacific investment funds are being urged to work together and increase investment in major development projects across the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica says no single country or investment fund can tackle the region’s challenges alone.

Speaking at the Pacific Islands Investment Forum in Nadi, Kamikamica says greater cooperation is needed as Pacific nations face climate change, economic uncertainty and geopolitical pressures.

He says pension and provident funds have an important role to play in financing development across the Pacific.

Kamikamica says joint investments in renewable energy, infrastructure, digital projects and affordable housing can support communities while providing returns to fund members.

He is calling on delegates to develop a practical co-investment platform and identify projects that are ready for funding.

“The investments you make today will create opportunities for our youths, so that the next generation will not only inherit prosperity but resilient but above all, financial security.”

Leaders from 23 funds across 13 Pacific countries are meeting at the Sofitel in Nadi for two days to discuss collaboration, investment expertise and joint investment opportunities.
