A Terminator reunion just booted back up.

On Sunday, Terminator 2: Judgment Day star Robert Patrick shared a photo of himself with costars Edward Furlong, Michael Biehn, and Linda Hamilton.

“Skynet definitely didn’t have this reunion in the original programming,” the actor wrote on social media. “T2 family back together.”

Directed by James Cameron and released in 1991, Judgement Day is considered one of the greatest movie sequels of all time. Hamilton reprised her iconic role as Sarah Connor, the mother of humanity’s future leader in a war against machines, while Arnold Schwarzenegger returned as a time-traveling cyborg.

T2 introduced Furlong as Sarah’s son, John, and also marked Patrick’s debut as a new Terminator antagonist, the T-1000, an advanced shapeshifter composed of liquid metal. Biehn filmed a scene for the sequel after previously playing John’s father, Kyle Reese, a soldier from the future, but the footage wound up on the cutting room floor.

The reunion marked a rare moment for Furlong, whose well-documented struggles prevented him from returning for the third film, 2000’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

“When I lost Terminator 3. Oh my God, dude. So much drugs in my life,” Furlong admitted in 2024 on Inside of You With Michael Rosenbaum. “That was the contract: They were like, ‘We want you to not do any drugs.’ Whatever, just sign a clause in the contract, no drugs. And it was a sweet deal. It was the best deal that I had ever gotten in my life. For T3, it was like a lot of money, like millions. And I had never made that kind of money. So I called my friends, and I’m like, ‘Guys, I just signed this f‑‑‑ing awesome contract, we’re going to go to the club, we’re going to get a bunch of blow.’”

That celebration ended with Furlong overdosing on cocaine as he collapsed on the floor of a club.

“The news caught wind,” he continued. “And of course, [the studio was] like, ‘Yeah, you know, you lost the movie. We’re not going to do it with you.’ That was it. And I was like, ‘I’m so sorry, oh my God,’ but it didn’t matter… I had just signed a contract saying that.”

Furlong added that the loss might have been the “best luck,” given that his “downward trajectory” would’ve likely continued. In February 2025, he shared that he’d been sober for seven years.

For the most recent installment of the Terminator franchise, 2019’s Dark Fate, Furlong participated in facial capture to allow the opening scene to depict him as a boy again.

Hamilton is the only one of the actors from the recent reunion to fully return to the franchise since T2, having headlined Dark Fate, in which she reunited with Schwarzenegger.

“Oddly, that part felt very natural,” she previously told Entertainment Weekly of being back together after 30 years. “When I saw [Schwarzenegger] for the first time, I was kind of amazed by how much affection just burst out of me. I was just giddy with delight to see him. We forged a really good friendship and working relationship and it was more fun than ever.”
