Tavua College capped off an impressive campaign by claiming the Under-19 title at the Extra Fiji Secondary Schools Football Championship in Labasa.
The western champions defeated host school Labasa College 2-0 in the final, with captain Waisea Duwai producing a match-winning performance by scoring both goals.
Duwai struck twice in the first half to hand Tavua a comfortable lead before a disciplined defensive display after the break ensured the side kept Labasa at bay and secured the national crown.
Tavua booked its place in the final after a convincing 3-0 semi-final victory over Guru Nanak Khalsa College, while Labasa College needed a penalty shootout to overcome Ba Sangam College after their semi-final ended 2-2.
The victory completed a memorable tournament for Tavua College, which also celebrated success in the Open Girls division, making it a double triumph for the school at the national championship.
