The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are bracing for a tough challenge against the defending champions Crusaders this Friday, as they prepare for one of their biggest tests of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
Facing a side stacked with international experience, head coach Glen Jackson says the Drua will need to match the Crusaders physically to stay in the contest.
Jackson acknowledged the pedigree of the opposition heading into the clash.
“They’re a quality outfit, they’ve won it more than anyone else, and they’re a proud team, especially finishing up at a stadium where they’ve had a lot of success.”
He also highlighted key threats within the Crusaders’ lineup.
“They’ve got All Blacks all over the park. Will Jordan is pure class, and they’ve got dangerous players like Sevu Reece and Chay Fihaki.”
Jackson says the battle up front will be crucial in determining the outcome of the match.
“Our forwards need to step up. If we lose the contact area, then it’s going to be tough for us.”
The Drua coach also took time to acknowledge Crusaders hooker Codie Taylor ahead of his milestone appearance.
The match kicks off at 6.05pm, and you can watch it LIVE on FBC Sports via the Walesi set top box.
