Winning a Vodafone Deans title made the moment even more special for Ratu Kadavulevu School Under-15 player Dennis Murray, who is hoping to one day follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Fijian Drua flanker Motikiai Murray.
Dennis was part of the RKS side that edged Marist Brothers High School 17-15 in the Under-15 Deans final and revealed that his elder brother continues to be a major source of inspiration.
“He always encourages me to play hard so I can reach his level. My dream is to one day play with him.”
The young Murray also thanked God for the victory and for the talent his brother has been blessed with.
“I thank God for today’s win and for also giving my elder brother the talent he has.”
Like many students living away from home, Dennis admitted boarding school life comes with its own challenges.
“Some challenges I face in school are sleepless nights and sometimes not being fed well, but that’s boarding school life and it takes being patient.”
Now a Deans champion, Dennis hopes to continue developing his game and one day join his brother in the professional ranks.
