A total of 54 teams from 26 schools will feature in the two-day CJ Patel sponsored Central and Eastern divisions’ volleyball tournament.
The Fiji Volleyball Federation and Suva Secondary Schools Volleyball Association, in partnership with the Fiji Sports Commission will deliver the Championships next Thursday and Fridat at the National Netball Centre in Suva.
Teams will compete in the boys’ and girls’ under-17 and 19 grades.
Fiji Volleyball Federation President, Mr. Myron Williams says the Championships will provide a strong platform for competition while laying the foundation for a national school’s volleyball structure.
Williams says they want to identify talent, connect students to further development opportunities and give schools a clear place within Fiji Volleyball.
He goes on to say that their goal is to establish the Fiji Secondary Schools Volleyball Association next year, creating a national structure through which schools, divisions and young athletes can progress.
The Fiji National Sports Commission has also provided funding support for the two-day competition.
The Championships will be staged under the theme “Volleyball Against Drugs.”
