Rev. Dr. Jolami Lasawa has been elected President-Elect of the Methodist Church in Fiji.
The election was held during the Church’s 2026 Annual Conference in Suva today.
Rev. Lasawa will take over as President in 2027, succeeding the current President, Rev. Dr. Semisi Turagavou.
In his maiden address, Rev. Lasawa expressed humility and gratitude for the confidence placed in him.
He says he is ready to take on the responsibility and serve the Church with his family.
“I am humbled and fully embrace this challenge with open arms, with God’s help. This is a responsibility that my family and I are ready to carry on,”
The Methodist Church says his election comes at an important time as it continues its focus on spiritual renewal, discipleship and community service.
The Church is calling on its members and the wider Christian community to pray for Lasawa as he prepares to take up the leadership role next year.
