About 126 students and teachers from special and inclusive schools across the country took part in the Methodist Church Conference Choir Competition yesterday afternoon, marking their first participation in the event.
Their performance provided a national platform for the students to showcase their talents, build confidence and demonstrate the importance of inclusive education.
Education Minister Aseri Radrodro says the milestone shows what students can achieve when given the right opportunities, support and an inclusive environment.
The students had been practicing separately at their respective schools and coordinating through a Viber group before coming together as one choir.
Radrodro acknowledged the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, teachers, parents and organisations supporting the initiative.
He hopes the performance will lead to the formation of a Fiji Council of Special and Inclusive Educators Choir and create more opportunities in singing, drama, dance and
poetry.
