Elderly woman passes away after sustaining burns

Police have confirmed that the 79-year-old woman who sustained burns has passed away this morning.

She was admitted at the Lautoka Hospital after she allegedly sustained burns in Rakiraki.

It is alleged that the woman tried to harm herself and as a result sustained burns on Sunday.

Police says the elderly woman’s neighbors saw smoke and went to assist the victim.

She was conveyed to the Rakiraki hospital and later transferred to Lautoka.
