The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are expecting a fiercely competitive hit-out when they face the Fiji Provincial Select side just a week before the opening round of the 2026 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

Head Coach Glen Jackson says the match is hugely important for both sides and will be treated as a full-intensity test by the Drua.
He also praised Fiji Rugby’s commitment to assembling a strong provincial squad for the fixture.

“I expect a very good team that they will select. I know Fiji Rugby are right behind it. Master Naca, I think Senirusi, they’re very dedicated and keen to get the best that they can get.”

He added that the timing of the match means the Drua will treat it as a serious dress rehearsal for Round One.

“In terms of our preparation, it’s eight days prior to our first game, so we’ll be taking it unbelievably seriously. I think, like I said, it’s a very important game for Fiji. Hopefully it can continue, and it’s a game that we play every single year.”

Jackson says the fixture is not only crucial for the Drua’s build-up, but also a valuable platform to identify more local talent.
