More than 6,000 students have received free exercise books as part of a back-to-school assistance program through an education support initiative by the Narere Youth Foundation.

Speaking at the event, Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to education, highlighting that free education is provided from kindergarten to Year 13.

He added that the Government also covers school fees, transport fares, and textbooks, along with providing an annual $200 assistance per child for stationery and school uniforms.

“This initiative by the Narere Youth Foundation complements the Government’s commitment to education. By providing free exercise books to over 6,000 students, they are helping families and ensuring that no child is left unprepared for the new school year.”

The Minister emphasized that while the Government continues to remove financial barriers to education, parents also have an important role in raising disciplined and motivated children.

He also acknowledged the contribution of community organizations, trustees, and volunteers, praising their dedication in supporting vulnerable families, including initiatives such as providing lunches to the poorest of the poor.

The President of the Narere Youth Foundation, Dinesh Kumar, said the initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families and ensure children are ready for the new school year.

The Foundation stressed that the program is independently run, free from political party influence, and managed by a dedicated committee.

Kumar also announced future plans to expand support to include school uniforms and additional assistance for families most in need.
