Telecom Fiji is upgrading connectivity in the Western Division with the Nakorokula–Tavua Fibre Project.

Chief Executive Charles Goundar said the project would deliver faster and more reliable services for homes, schools, businesses and essential services.

He states the upgrade will support education, small businesses, emergency response and daily digital needs.

Old and damaged fibre lines along the route will be replaced, giving households and businesses a stronger and more secure connection.

Goundar said the project would boost development opportunities particularly in the Tavua–Rakiraki corridor, a key growth area for investment.

He adds that entrepreneurs, farmers, tourism operators and government services will operate more efficiently and expand their reach.
Work starts mid-November and is expected to finish by May next year.

Goundar said the upgrade would reduce service disruptions, improve online access and enhance communication for schools, health centres and government operations.

The new link will also allow businesses to use modern digital tools, cloud services and improve customer service.
