After a challenging season, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have been using the off-season to reset and refocus ahead of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign.
Veteran prop Mesulame Doge says last year’s results have been a strong source of motivation during the break.
He adds that the players have spent months reflecting on their performances and putting in the hard work needed to correct mistakes on the field.
“Even for me as a player, I felt a bit down, because that was what we didn’t expect as a team. But with what happened, that was a big lesson for us as a team. But it made me really reflect on myself and what I could do better.”
The Drua recorded four wins and 10 losses last season, finishing 10th on the standings, a result that has left the squad eager to improve.
The team will open the new season against Moana Pasifika in February at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
