Climate finance is not charity but justice and must be accessible, predictable and scaled to meet the needs of frontline communities.

Minister for Environment and Climate Change Mosese Bulitavu reiterated this sentiment in Brazil.

He told world leaders at COP30 in Belém that the Pacific faces rising seas and escalating climate threats, while the world drifts beyond the 1.5°C limit.

The Minister called for the adoption of a Baku-to-Belém Roadmap to scale climate finance from billions to trillions, advance a just transition from fossil fuels, protect the Pacific Ocean and support Fiji’s enhanced NDC3.0 targets.

Bulitavu stressed that faster global cooperation is essential as Pacific countries cannot tackle these challenges alone.

Fiji continues to champion ambition, justice and solidarity to safeguard vulnerable communities across the Pacific and beyond.
