Shangri-La Yanuca Island has strengthened its commitment to celebrating Asian heritage through a new partnership with the Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific.
The partnership was formalised yesterday when Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji CEO Francis Lee signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Confucius Institute Chinese Director Li Chunxue.
This move establishes a long-term program to bring cultural activities and exchanges to Fiji.
The resort, part of Shangri-La’s global Arts & Culture initiative launched last year, showcased Baduanjin, an ancient Chinese exercise form, for guests.
Around 100 attendees, including children from Nadroumai and Cuvu District, joined staff in artistic demonstrations and cultural performances.
Francis Lee said the partnership reflects the resort’s vision of bringing Asia to the world and providing meaningful cultural experiences for the community.
Li Chunxue outlined the importance of sharing Asian traditions and building connections through education and the arts.
The initiative aims to continue promoting Asian culture and combining hands-on workshops, performances, and educational programs for communities and visitors.
