Krishna commended for his role

July 23, 2014 4:05 am

Fijian football international Roy Krishna is being tipped for greater heights with the Wellington Phoenix in the new season.

The Siberia lad could feature for the Phoenix against English Premier League side, West Ham United in a friendly match tonight.

However, his overall contribution has been applauded by the Phoenix and they expect him to do wonders.

New Zealand commentator, Jason Pine, who calls the Phoenix games, says Krishna is an asset for his club.

“Ernie Merrick (Wellington Phoenix coach) has obviously seen some good qualities in Roy Krishna. He gave him a few appearances last season in his first season with the Phoenix. He will be pushing against the like of Jeremy Brockie, Tyler Boyd, Kenny Cunningham and the newly arrived Nathan Burns at the Phoenix, for a first starting spot and if not the starting spot, the impact spot off the bench. We are expecting great things from Roy in the A League this season ahead and in fact when and if he gets on against West Ham.”

The Phoenix-West Ham match starts at 7.30pm at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
