Police has confirmed that two people have died in the recent floods and they are continuing the search for their bodies.
These incidents occurred in Tailevu and Lami at the height of flooding yesterday.
A 24-year-old man is believed to have drowned while swimming across a flooded river to go to the Vorovoro Village yesterday morning.
While in the second incident a 20-year-old student drowned late yesterday evening when trying to cross the Qauia river.
The Force has expressed concern at the incidents.
“We could have deployed manpower to other needy areas and just looking for people that take their own action in defying orders when we have given warning for people not to cross rivers when they are flooded and yet they took their own steps to go and cross the results and this is the result. So I can say this is a burden to us again.”
The search for the two continues.
