92 teenage pregnancy cases recorded in 2018
92 cases of teenage pregnancy were recorded last year by the Social Welfare’s Child Services Department.
One case has already been recorded this year.
Child Services Assistant Director Ela Tukutukulevu says most of the cases when investigated were due to broken families whereas for some cases, the victims are brought up by single parents or grandparents.

She adds most of these cases are referred to them from hospitals.
The department is working to raise more awareness in an effort to address the issue.
