The Team Wellington Football side has increased its chances of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Fiji Airways OFC Champions League as they defeated Hekari United 2-0 in Suva last night.
The Kiwis proved too strong in the wet conditions at the ANZ Stadium to register their second win in as many matches.
Wellington’s benefitted from a Hekari own goal in the 21st minute.
Luis Corrales made a break down the left side and had his shot deflected by a Hekari defender to see Wellington take the early lead.
A blunder by Hekari’s Fijian goal-keeper, Beniamino Matenaqara saw Wellington increase it lead to 2-0 in the second spell and claim the win.
In the other match last night, AS Tefana and Tafea FC played to a 1-all draw.
The draw means both teams bow out of semi final contention.
