Fiji beats Argentina in its second pool match

The Fiji Airways 7s team defeated Argentina 40-26 in its second pool match at the Paris 7s.

Argentina started the match strongly with the first try in the first minute but Fiji’s Aminiasi Tuimaba replied instantly to level scores at 7-all.

Fiji continued its fine form as Waisea Nacuqu made it 14-7.

Argentina came back strongly and levelled scores to 14-all.

Tuimaba scored his second try to make it 19-14 at the breather.

Vilimoni Botitu came into the scoresheet in the second half as he scored two quick tries to take the scores to 33-14.

Nacuqu limped off the field with a hamstring injury and Napolioni Ratu came into the field.

Fiji had to play two minutes of the second half with six players when Ratu was sin-binned in the fourth minute for a high tackle.

The Argentinians took full advantage of an extra man and scored two tries to close the gap to 33-26 in the final minutes.

Fiji had the final say when Apenisa Cakaubalavu scored the last try of the match in the last minute to take the final score to 40-26.

Fiji’s final pool match is against Ireland at 5:42 this morning.

Looking at Fiji’s other pool members, Ireland beat England 27 – 14.
