Former All Blacks 7s playmaker to join Coral Coast 7s

Former All Blacks 7s playmaker Gillies Kaka is set to make his debut at the McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s in January.

Tournament director Jay Whyte confirmed this and described Kaka’s inclusion as a major boost and a reflection of the tournament’s continued rise.

“Gillies Kaka is a name synonymous with excellence in sevens rugby. Having a player of his calibre making his first appearance at the McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s is a testament to how far the tournament has grown. Known for his game-breaking flair, sharp decision-making, and calm leadership, Kaka brings invaluable international experience to Lawaqa Park.

His inclusion adds to the growing list of world-class athletes drawn to the Coral Coast 7s, reinforcing the event’s status as a premier global rugby sevens showcase.

Kaka will line up in a star-studded squad already being tipped as one of the top contenders for the prestigious i-Wau Trophy in 2026.
