New Zealand Rugby has announced the sudden passing of Samoan-born player Michael Tamoaieta.

Tamoaieta who has played for the Blues and North Harbour in the Super Rugby competition passed away on Thursday.

The 23-year old’s passing shocked the New Zealand rugby community.

Blues CEO Michael Redman says they are saddened with the loss of the team’s talented players.

Tamoaieta is survived by his only daughter Aihara and his wife.
