The State will be calling in 19 witnesses in the trial of 24-year-old Canadian national charged with drug-related offenses with the possibility of two experts from overseas.

Joshua Aziz Rahman appeared before the Suva High Court this morning charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

Rahman’s defense will most likely call a senior counsel from overseas to represent Rahman as family members are raising funds for legal fees.

He is alleged to have had in his possession, 39 bars of a white substance weighing 39.5 kilograms.

The bars which were allegedly recovered in a February police raid at Rahman’s home in Caubati, Nasinu later tested positive for cocaine with an estimated street value of $31 million.

The case will be recalled on September 10th and Rahman is further remanded.
