A senior sports executive is under police investigation following an allegation of sexual assault involving a staff member.

It is understood that the staff member recently started work at the organization.

Police confirmed to FBC News this morning that a report was lodged last Friday, prompting an investigation into the alleged incident.

It is alleged that the senior executive sexually assaulted the staff member.
