FIJI Water Flying Fijians lock Isoa Nasilasila will miss the Asahi Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan tonight.
This is after he was handed a one-match suspension following his red card against Canada last weekend.
The sanction was confirmed after an independent Disciplinary Committee reviewed the incident during a full hearing on Wednesday, September 16.
Nasilasila was initially referred to the Foul Play Review Committee, which proposed a six-match mid-range sanction, reduced to three matches after full mitigation.
That proposed sanction was not accepted, prompting the matter to be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for a full hearing.
The committee considered all available evidence and submissions from Nasilasila, and it determined that the offence warranted a low-end entry point of two matches.
Nasilasila was then awarded the full 50 percent mitigation, reducing the final sanction to one match.
The lock forward was shown a red card after his tackle and clean-out against Canada was upgraded by the Foul Play Review Officer under Law 9.20(d), relating to removing a jackler by rolling, pulling or twisting.
The Flying Fijians will take on Japan at 10.05pm tonight.
