Digicel Young Kulas coach Angeline Chua believes her players have an idea of what to expect in the OFC Under-19 Women’s Championship.
The team had a friendly match with the Southern Boys Under-15 team yesterday at the HFC Stadium, getting a feel of the type of atmosphere to expect this week.
Chua says the majority of her players will be playing in their first major regional tournament so exposure is vital.
“I think the girls did pretty well, we are rotating the players so just to make sure that everyone gets to experience the main stadium. I think we came out really strong, we were leading 2-0 and I guess it’s just a bit of defensive error.”
Chua adds the match also exposed their weak areas in defense and they will address this in training ahead of their first match on Thursday.
The Fiji U19 will play New Zealand in their opening match on Thursday at 4pm at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
The tournament starts on Wednesday with two matches played at Churchill Park in Lautoka between New Caledonia and Samoa at 12pm while Vanuatu faces Tonga at 3pm.
