Team Fiji kicks to glory with six medals in Oceania Taekwondo showdown

Team Fiji has delivered an impressive showing at the 2026 Oceania Taekwondo Games in Sydney, Australia, returning home with a strong medal haul that highlights the sport’s steady rise locally.

The Fiji Taekwondo team fielded eight athletes, four juniors and four seniors, with six finishing on the podium in a commendable performance against the region’s best.

In the junior individual division, Aanvi Kumar, Immanuel Krishna, and Vivaan Singh each secured bronze medals, while the trio of Kumar, Bhavish Nand, and Krishna combined to win silver in the team event.

The senior ranks also produced solid results, with Lolohea Naitasi and Aarush Kumar claiming bronze medals in their respective individual categories. Naitasi added another bronze in the senior team event to cap off a strong campaign.

The achievement reflects the athletes’ discipline and preparation while also signalling the continued growth of Taekwondo in Fiji through increased exposure to international competition.

The Fiji Taekwondo Association has acknowledged the support from global and regional governing bodies, as well as the Fiji Association of Sports and the National Olympic Committee, for helping make Team Fiji’s participation possible.

With six medals from eight athletes, the performance marks a positive step forward for the sport as it continues to build momentum on the regional stage.
