The AFL Fiji Tribe finished at eighth place while Fiji Vonu finished at fifth place in the 2017 AFL International Cup in Melbourne.
Fiji Tribe dominated much of the play against Canada but again fell short 24-21 when it came to converting their chances in the forward half.
Meanwhile, Fiji Vonu claimed dominance over PNG early in the contest and did not give them much room to breathe throughout the match.
Coach Simon Highfield says it has been a terrific competition for the girls, pushing the world’s best teams right to the edge and absolutely outclassing others.
“The players displayed tremendous skill and athleticism, but a focus on structures, forward entries and team defense will likely see the team improve further.”
Highfield adds they are now looking at improve further in 2020.
