Fiji’s ocean is healthy

July 21, 2023 12:04 pm

The French Senior Researcher in Oceanography, Dr Cecile Dupouy says Fiji’s ocean is healthy despite a few blooms received from the Rewa River.

According to the Senior Researcher, the one year data collected from their studies show the ocean in the South of Fiji is in good health especially when there is no rain.

“At the moment the ocean is in a very good health but it might be different if you have too many pollutants in the Rewa River because the Rewa bloom can be very big and long.”

Dr Dupouy says the food chain is available in good quantity for the sea creatures and there are enough resources to develop the state of our oceans.
