The University of the South Pacific is working on offering more vernacular courses in the coming semesters.

Vice Chancellor Rajesh Chandra says they are working on offering Rotuman language soon.

Chandra says as part of ensuring that the University supports Pacific Cultures and Pacific Identity, the university will be increasing the number of vernacular languages that they offer.

He says the planning for offering Rotuman Language would be in line with this.

Currently the University offers Hindi and Fijian Language as part of their diploma and degree courses.

The Vice Chancellor says by offering vernacular languages, the university aims to create a more vibrant, knowledge based society in the South Pacific.
