Hundreds of Fijians registered with the Fiji Society for the Blind will be given a chance to undergo eye operations.

The project is spearheaded by the Society and Taveuni Rotary Club.

Club Treasurer Michael Prasad says they have a standard number of patients for treatment every year.

“We have FSB, that’s the Fiji Society for the Blind who go out and screen for us and they have to leave people behind because there’s only a certain number that we can do each year, but we do screen and record who are left behind and we try and get them in the next year”.

Meanwhile, over 900 eye surgeries were carried out in the last three years.
