Female officers of the country’s uniformed services marched in the city to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The event brought together officers from the Republic of Fiji Military Force, Fiji Police Force, Fiji Navy, Fiji Correction Services and National Fire Authority.
Minister for Women Sashi Kiran says the event celebrates their sacrifice and commitment to service.
“Today, we gather not only to recognize your service, but to acknowledge the unique journey you walk as women in uniform, a journey that demands resilience, sacrifice and an unshakeable belief in your worth.”
She adds that gender equality in the uniformed forces was not a favor but a right.
“It is about ensuring that opportunities are equal, from recruitment to promotion. Workplaces are safe, free from harassment, discrimination and bias. Voices are valued so that every woman are part of decision-making at every level.”
The march was part of the disciplined forces two-day celebration for International Women’s day.
