Fiji’s tourism industry has received a major lift with the official opening of the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa.
While opening the multi-million-dollar redevelopment Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo described it as a statement of confidence in Fiji’s economy and its future.
The resort marks a complete transformation of the iconic property, now offering more than 300 premium rooms, new family suites, a modern spa, seven dining outlets and a 600-seat convention centre designed to attract international meetings and business events.

Vosarogo says the development represents far more than a new tourism facility, emphasising its nationwide impact.
“Every investment in tourism fuels our economy, strengthens our communities, and supports the lives of thousands of Fijians,” he said, adding that the sector contributed $2.57 billion last year and supported 119,000 jobs.”
He highlighted that nearly one million visitors arrived in Fiji last year, with 79% travelling for holidays reaffirming Fiji as one of the region’s top leisure destinations.
The Acting Prime Minister stressed that the new Crowne Plaza is already part of this growth trajectory, having created hundreds of construction jobs and set to employ even more Fijians as its operations expand.
He also acknowledged the impact on suppliers, tradespeople, farmers, transport operators, artisans and entertainers.
Vosarogo said the opening also strengthens Fiji’s global brand.
“Its world-class facilities combined with genuine Fijian hospitality will ensure every visitor leaves with a story to tell and a desire to come back.”
He encouraged the hotel’s management to maintain strong environmental standards, saying responsible tourism is vital to protecting Fiji’s natural assets, its beaches, reefs, forests and marine life.
Vosarogo also paid tribute to investors, landowners in Nadi, and the InterContinental Hotels Group, saying their commitment is a powerful endorsement of Fiji’s potential at a time of global uncertainty.
The Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort and Spa is now officially open, ushering in what the Acting Prime Minister describes as a new chapter for Nadi and new opportunities for Fijian jobs and businesses.
