Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, says the Constitution Review process is a defining moment for the country and must be driven by the voices of the people.

Speaking in Parliament this morning, Rabuka stressed that the review is more than a formal exercise, but an opportunity for Fijians to shape the supreme law that governs their lives.

“It is a chance for ordinary Fijians to have a say in the review of their Constitution, the supreme law of this land.”

He highlighted the importance of public understanding, noting that meaningful participation depends on awareness and access to information.

The Prime Minister also outlined the rollout of the Public Awareness and Civic Education program, which is currently underway across the country to prepare communities ahead of consultations.

Responding to the statement, Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu acknowledged the importance of the review and encouraged public participation.

“The review of the Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, is something that we need to encourage our communities to participate in.”

Seruiratu also stressed the need to respect the process and ensure all voices are heard, including those making submissions.

He adds that Fiji now has a unique opportunity to develop a Constitution without political upheaval, urging all stakeholders to act responsibly.
