Students make up T-10 cricket team

A team of secondary school students will feature in the first Cricket Fiji T-10 competition tomorrow.

These rookies were selected during the first four rounds of secondary schools competition before it was halted due to the pandemic.

T-10 cricket means a match is a 10-over-a-side and the duration of each match is 90 minutes.

Cricket Fiji Chief Executive Alex Konrote says there may be no sporting activities in the next school term but they have found a way to keep their young talents occupied.

‘We know that sports will not be allowed in schools so we looking at other ways to keep them active so this is one of those ways, and one of those is the inclusion of Cricket Fiji development team which is made up of a team formed by the secondary school boys we’ve identified during the tournament this year.

Cricket Fiji is planning to keep the players together and hopes to have weekend camps.

Konrote adds 12 teams will feature in the Suva T-10, six in Nadi and two in Lautoka.

The T-10 cricket in Suva will be held at Albert Park from 8:30am tomorrow.
