The upcoming national budget will focus on supporting young people and their needs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says this is crucial as they are the leaders of Fiji tomorrow.
Professor Prasad says there is a need to have more youth prepare themselves for leadership roles, and this needs support from home, school, and the government.
“We acknowledge that we need to do a lot to provide the environment, provide jobs provide scholarships adequately fund tertiary institutions our education system to give our young and our youth the confidence and the freedom to do things.”
Professor Prasad says we should expect the formalization of the scholarship that will replace the TELS Loan Scheme in the upcoming budget.
The budget will also announce the waiver of the $613 million owed to the government by the students.
The 2023–2024 National Budget will be announced in the next two weeks.
