Vodafone Fiji Bulikula captain Sereana Naitokatoka says reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Rugby League World Cup in the team’s debut appearance is still hard to comprehend.

The Bulikula secured a place in the last four after an emphatic win over France, continuing a fairytale campaign that has captured the attention of rugby league fans back home.

“It’s unreal. I still can’t believe it. It’s a blessing and we’re so grateful to be part of this World Cup and now that we’re in the semi-finals, it’s mind-blowing.”

While the achievement is historic, Naitokatoka says the team remains focused on making the most of the opportunity.

“We just want to celebrate this win now and then take it in for tomorrow.”

The captain credited the strong bond within the squad as one of the key reasons behind Fiji’s success on the world stage.

“I always speak about our hearts being knitted together, and it’s not by might, not by power, but by His spirit. That’s how we’re united.”

With a likely semi-final clash against defending champions Australia looming, Naitokatoka remains confident in her teammates and their ability to rise to the challenge.

“Nothing is impossible with God. I believe in our team; I believe in our girls.”

The Bulikula will now turn their attention to the semi-finals as they continue their remarkable run at their first-ever Women’s Rugby League World Cup.
