World-class leadership course launched
The College of Southern Nevada and the Nevada National Guard have launched the Executive Public Leadership Course in collaboration with the Fiji National University.
The two-week course targets middle and senior officials from various ministries, bringing them together to share experiences, knowledge, and perspectives.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the program responds to a call to strengthen leadership across public institutions, emphasising the need for quality, accountable leaders.
“This program is both timely and necessary as it reflects the growing importance of preparing leaders who can navigate complexity, drive reform and deliver results.”
FNU Learning and Teaching Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Jimaima Lako, says the course serves as an important step towards nurturing the nation’s leaders.
“The course explores key areas such as emotional intelligence, organised national change management, power and influence, and collaborative decision making. These are not only important skills for effective leadership, but are also critical in addressing the complex challenges facing organisations, facing our nation, and even the rapidly changing world we are experiencing today”
US Embassy Head of Delegation John Degory says the partnership develops world-class leadership education while enhancing interoperability between the two nations.
“It represents our belief that strong societies are built by strong leaders who understand themselves, inspire their teams, and adapt to change while staying true to their values.”
Over the next two weeks, 40 participants from the uniformed forces and various government ministries will engage in the program, designed to strengthen essential leadership capabilities and build stronger institutions.
