A 13-year-old student is believed to have drowned in the Koronubu River in Ba yesterday afternoon.

Police say the student from Vutuni in Ba had gone swimming with her cousins and friends when the unfortunate incident occurred.

She was rushed to Ba Aspen Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
