Chiefs number 8 Pita Gus Sowakula

Chiefs number 8 Pita Gus Sowakula will not be available for the Flying Fijians in this year’s rugby world cup.

Gus made these comments after his sides 40-27 win over Super Rugby champions the Crusaders at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The former national basketball rep who last played at the ANZ Stadium in 2017 during the Marist 7s when he featured for Hideaway Hurricanes says he will be ready to represent Fiji in two years time.

Gus says he has been in contact with Flying Fijians coach John McKee and he has informed him about his decision.

Gus adds there are quality loose forwards for the Flying Fijians at the moment and is one of the reasons he has decided to wait a little longer.

Meanwhile, Sevuloni Reece was not able to attend the post-match conference due to illness according to team management.
