SODELPA President Ro Filipe Tuisawau
The Social Democratic Liberal Party says their motion for a vote of no confidence against the Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, was withdrawn on a technicality.
In a letter to the Secretary-General, Tuisawau claimed that the PM had lost the support of Fijians and the Opposition proposed Sitiveni Rabuka to take over as PM.
However, after the dinner break, yesterday, Tuisawau opted to withdraw the motion leaving speaker, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, upset with the comical actions of the MP.
SODELPA President Ro Filipe Tuisawau who initially filed the Motion yesterday afternoon, says the Party was not ready for debate when the Speaker of the House decided to call the matter before Parliament.
“We had requested the No Confidence Motion to be heard on Friday, but it was brought up yesterday so on that technicality I decided to withdraw it.”
FBC News has approached Prime Minister in Parliament and he is expected to comment on the issue later.
