Fiji Cancer Society President Makarava Wilson
The Fiji Cancer Society is urging Fijians to seek medical help as soon as they see changes to their body or if they start getting sick frequently.
Society’s President Makarava Wilson says a number of cancer cases are increasing every year and attending to all cases has become a challenge and a concern for them.
Wilson says individuals know their bodies well, therefore they need to see a doctor if they see any changes which are not normal to them.
“You are more familiar with your bodies than anyone else. Abnormalities in your body does not mean its cancer right away. It can be diabetes, it could be some other non-communicable disease. Always go to your doctors to get checked.”
Wilson says so many awareness programmes are currently being run and it defeats the purpose if people disregard the warnings, signs and symptoms.
