A man charged with robbery and rape related charges has been further remanded by the Suva High Court.

Iliesa Cuanilawa is charged with one count each of aggravated robbery and assault with intent to rape.

In court yesterday, Cuanilawa informed the Judge that he wanted to withdraw Legal Aid and get a private counsel.

He failed to assure the court that he would have a lawyer ready for trial which starts on September 9th.

As a result, the Judge insisted Legal Aid deal with the case and has ordered the accused to inform the court about arrangements made for a private counsel before September 4th.

It is alleged that on February 27th this year, at Vuci Road in Nausori, he robbed the complainant of items worth $4228.

It is also alleged that on the same day he assaulted the victim with intent to commit rape.

The case will be recalled on September 4th for mention.

The trial has been set for September 9th to 13th.
